Hypothyroidism is a disease in which the functional activity of all cells in the dog is reduced due to insufficient secretion or synthesis of thyroid hormones. The typical clinical symptoms of dogs are decreased metabolic rate, myxedema, decreased libido, sleepiness, fear of cold, sterility, sparse skin and coat. This disease is a common endocrine disorder in dogs, which is easy to occur in medium-sized or large female dogs aged 4-6 years.
The diagnosis of hyperthyroidism is by hematological examination of total T4, and some may also be judged in combination with free T4 and the thyroid-stimulating hormone TSH.
